On September 22, 2022 Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Auditorium III - International Fisheries Skills Development Forum was held in Russia in a combination of online and offline.
The forum was hosted by BRICS Business Council (Russia) Skills Development Working Group and co-hosted by BRICS Business Council (China) Skills Development Working Group. Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chairman of BRICS Business Council (China) Skills Development Working Group, Chairman of the Belt& Road and BRICS Skills Development International Alliance, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organizing Committee of the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, President of BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technological Innovation (Xiamen), Alina Doskanova, Director of International Affairs of BRICS Business Council (Russia) Skills Development Working Group, and Andrey Mikhaleevich, Director of the Economic and Investment Division of the Russian Federation Fisheries Service, attended and addressed the forum. The Forum invited Russian national industry authorities, industry talents, university experts and scholars from BRICS countries to make cutting-edge reports on fishery skills development, and attracted participants from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ghana and other countries.
Liu Zhenying said in his welcome speech that the BRICS Auditorium is one of the important Deliverables designed by the BRICS Business Council Skills Development Working Group, and the BRICS Skills Group is committed to establishing a long-term mechanism of the BRICS Auditorium to carry out theoretical and technical seminars as well as skills training. The BRICS Auditorium has been successfully held for two sessions in April and July this year, focusing on the two major themes of big data for precision epidemic prevention and talent cultivation, and virtual simulation technology and its application in basic industry, respectively, and has received wide attention and praise from BRICS countries.

Since 2015, more than 40 internationalized skills competitions have been established in Russia, 25 of which are being conducted at the Kazan WorldSkills Competition in 2019, with the participation of more than 80 higher education institutions. From the perspective of future skills applied to the fisheries and aquaculture industry, the incorporation of future skills such as intelligent control systems, IT business solutions, project cycle management, digital transformation, etc. will be a boost for the industry.
This forum has played a positive role in promoting the digital transformation and upgrading of traditional fisheries in BRICS countries, promoting the deep integration of digital technology and fishery economy, accelerating the development of fisheries and aquaculture industry in digitalization, griddedness and intelligence, and also put forward useful suggestions and higher requirements for higher education and talent cultivation of fisheries and aquaculture industry in BRICS countries.
