Darelle Van Greunen, Director of the Center for Community Technology at the University of Nelson Mandela, gave a keynote address on "The Future of Digital Health". She said that digital health technology has enormous potential to transform healthcare in Africa. With the widespread use of cell phones and increased internet connectivity across the continent, digital health solutions can help overcome challenges and improve access, delivery and outcomes. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, low digital literacy, data privacy and security needs must be addressed when implementing digital health technologies in Africa. Collaboration between governments, healthcare providers, technology companies and other stakeholders is essential to maximize the potential of digital healthcare in the African context.

Zhang Qin, academician of the International Academy of Nuclear Energy and dual-appointed professor of the Institute of Nuclear Research and the Department of Computer Science of Tsinghua University, gave a report on the theme of "Assisted Clinical Diagnosis for General Practitioners, which allows primary care doctors to diagnose diseases and know the causes like experts". Academician Zhang Qin said that he and his team are working on a general practitioner disease diagnosis intelligent system, which can achieve correct diagnosis in any scenario with interpretability, and can dynamically generate individual optimized clinical examination paths to achieve accurate diagnosis. This set of algorithms turns the empirical diagnostic process into computable and automatically generated best clinical practices. The algorithm provides an advanced, feasible and interpretable solution for the realization of inter-disciplinary database and diagnosis of diseases, the training of grassroots clinicians, the enhancement of grassroots diagnosis and treatment level, and the promotion of hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system.

With the development of science and technology, digitalization has played an important role in the reform and development of the healthcare sector, breaking down geographical constraints and greatly improving the timeliness and accuracy of medical diagnosis. However, there are still huge gaps in healthcare development in different countries and regions. It is hoped that through the platform of BRICS Lecture Hall, seminars and related trainings will be organized to promote exchanges and cooperation in the healthcare field among BRICS countries, and to provide advice and suggestions for the digital transformation of healthcare services.
