On December 11, 2024, a delegation of over 50 officials at the departmental level from the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and leading members of its affiliated units visited the BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation(Xiamen)(hereinafter referred to as "the Academy") for an exchange visit. As part of the "2024 Special Training Program on Modern Industrial System Construction for Department-Level Officials of Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission," the visit aimed to learn from the Academy's exemplary experiences and practices, thereby enhancing the capacity of Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission officials at the departmental level to promote the construction of a modern industrial system.
In view of the significant achievements made by the Academy in skill development, technological innovation, international integration of industry and education, and international cooperation and exchanges in the field of new industries, the School of Journalism and Communication of Xiamen University specially recommends our Academy as one of the visiting and exchange units for this training program. As a member of the China Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, the Academy has been committed to promoting global skill development and technological innovation, playing a particularly important role under the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative and BRICS cooperation.
Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chair of China Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, President of the International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS, and President of the Academy, delivered a specialized training session for the participants. Dr. Liu provided an in-depth analysis of the significant importance of multilateral cooperation among BRICS+ countries across various fields for developing nations and emerging economies, particularly highlighting its profound impact in technological innovation, skills development, standard-setting, and industrial upgrading. He also elaborated in detail on the international cooperation under the BRICS mechanism and the Belt and Road Initiative, exploring how technology innovation and efficient skills training can help developing countries enhance their industrial competitiveness and promote sustainable economic development. Dr. Liu emphasized that the future core of global industrial competition will no longer rely solely on traditional manufacturing but rather on advanced technology and innovation-driven industrial systems. Therefore, developing economies should strengthen collaboration with global centers of technological innovation, facilitate cross-border talent mobility and skills training to ensure their competitive position in the global economy.
The trainees subsequently visited the Academy's Future Technology Exhibition and Experience Center, where they had hands-on operation and interaction with 42 high-tech equipment exhibits on display. The exhibition content covered multiple fields including emerging technologies, green energy, smart manufacturing, and digital healthcare, with particular emphasis on how to promote the integration of technology innovation and green transformation within the context of international cooperation. This visit and exchange laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between both sides in the future.
