On February 9, 2023, Zhu Tianxiang, director of the Institute of Political and Security Studies of BRICS Research Institute of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU), led the relevant persons in charge of the Institute of Economy, Trade, Finance and Economics and the four research centers in Brazil, Russia, and India to conduct research and exchange on the key topic of "Research on the Path of Cooperation in Science and Technology, Economy and Trade and Humanities Between Xiamen and Key Cities of BRICS Countries", on the overall objective of the foreign exchanges and cooperation, the basic situation of exchanges and cooperation in BRICS countries, and the ideas and plans to expand and deepen exchanges and cooperation with BRICS countries. The general objective of foreign exchanges and cooperation, the basic situation of exchanges and cooperation in BRICS countries, and the envisioning and planning of expanding and deepening exchanges and cooperation with BRICS countries were investigated and exchanged in our institute. The research team listened to the introduction of the development history and business structure of the Academy, including focusing on technical skills research, development and standard-setting; international technical skills training and talent platform construction; continuous BRICS competitions, international cooperative research and technology exchanges by means of competitions instead of training; the transformation of research results, incubation, exhibition and display of the research results, and BRICS Resource Service Center, etc., and visited the "BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Auditorium" and the "Future Technology Exhibition Center", and exchanged views with the Country Operation Officers of the BRICS Resource Service Center of the Academy.
Mr. Zhu Tianxiang, Director of the University of Foreign Languages, said that the development of the University of Foreign Languages needs to grasp the opportunity of the new industrial revolution, strengthen the country-specific and cooperative research with the BRICS countries, explore the organic combination of the emerging artificial intelligence and the traditional research on foreign language teaching and learning, and promote the research on the translation of the non-general languages such as Portuguese, Russian, Hindi, and other languages into Chinese with the help of the traditional foreign language corpora, so that the University of Foreign Languages can provide intellectual support for the planning and research of development strategies, and promote the practical cooperation of the BRICS countries in the framework of the partnership of the new industrial revolution and the BRICS countries. It will also provide intellectual support for the planning and research of development strategies and the promotion of BRICS pragmatic cooperation in the field of the New Industrial Revolution Partnership and under the framework of BRICS cooperation.
President Liu Zhenying welcomed the visit of the BRICS Institute of Sichuan International Studies University, saying that the five outcome designs of the 2022 BRICS Business Council (China) Skills Development Working Group have been recognized by other BRICS countries, and the overall work of the Institute this year continues to be centered on the five outcome designs, with the focus on the organization of BRICS competitions, BRICS technology and skills standard-setting, construction of an international training base for future skills, and construction of an international training base for the future skills of the BRICS countries. The main focuses of the work are the organization of BRICS competitions, the development of BRICS technology and skills standards, the construction of an international training base for future skills, the long-term activities of the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Lecture Series, and visits to BRICS and BRICS+ countries, etc. It is hoped that the two sides can enhance their understanding in the future, rely on their respective strengths, promote the sharing of resources, realize the development of in-depth integration and work together to push forward the construction of an innovation base of partnership for the new industrial revolution.
Founded in May 2013, the BRICS Institute of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) is an applied research institution jointly established by the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government and SISU. The Institute consists of three research institutes, namely, Political Security, Economy, Trade, Finance and Economy, and Humanities Exchange, and four research centers in Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, focusing on the research of humanities exchange in BRICS countries, which involves three major topics, namely, local cooperation among BRICS countries, interactions among civil society organizations, and media exchanges.
