On the afternoon of October 12th, commissioned by the South Africa Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group and invited by the International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS (referred to as the Alliance), Chikumbutso Christopher Migochi, Principal of the South Africa Isayidi Technical and Vocational Education and Training College, along with his delegation, visited the Guangzhou Information Technology Vocational School (referred to as the School), a member unit of the Alliance, for an on-site inspection. They engaged in in-depth discussions on the International Training Bases for Future Technical Skills and Humanities Exchange Talents, professional discipline construction, joint education programs, and cooperation in international industry-education integration projects for future technical skills.
At the symposium, Liu Guanming, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the School, and Fang Kunyang, Vice President, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. They provided a detailed introduction to the School's current development status and long-term vision, the progress and achievements in discipline construction, as well as the cooperation progress and outcomes with Belt & Road and BRICS countries, and expressed intentions for further collaboration. President Chikumbutso Christopher Migochi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the School and gave an overview of the construction and development of the South African Isayidi Technical and Vocational Education and Training College. He mentioned that both institutions are at a critical stage of building new campuses and hoped to establish close ties and exchanges to facilitate resource and experience sharing. Lv Zhenkun, Our Academy’s International Cooperation Project Specialist, introduced the China Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group’s BRICS+ achievement design, as well as the 4.International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS and the jointly promoted international training base (BRICS Workshop) project by our Academy.
After the symposium, the delegation from South Africa's Isayidi Technical and Vocational Education and Training College visited the School's All-Media Industry College, Virtual Simulation Laboratory, AI Laboratory, and Student Television Station. They gained insights into the School's digital campus development, practical training base construction, specialty program development and outcomes, while also observing students' hands-on training operations and project achievements on-site.
The inspection team highly commended the school's innovative practices in vocational skills training, stating that the school has created a first-class learning environment and a strong skills-learning atmosphere for teachers and students with advanced modern training facilities and equipment, providing a high-quality educational platform for students to unleash their potential and refine their skills. They also expressed a strong desire to learn from and draw upon the school's experience in establishing and developing aspects such as the All-Media Industry Institute and the Student Television Station section.
The visit by the delegation from the South African Isayidi Technical and Vocational Education and Training College holds significant meaning in promoting future cooperation in education and training between both sides, continuously exploring new pathways and mechanisms for educational internationalization, and actively building learning and exchange networks in South Africa and other Belt & Road and BRICS countries. It also serves as an important implementation of the keynote speech "Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Create a Brighter Future for China and Africa" delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the China-Africa Leaders' Dialogue.
All parties look forward to building upon the achievements of this cooperative exchange to further open new avenues for international collaboration in vocational education between China and Africa, seeking more opportunities and spaces for cooperation. Through mutual visits, experience sharing, and discussions, we aim to develop educational resources such as curricula and equipment for mutual learning. Under the witness of our institution, both sides hope to promote deeper multi-level cooperation in fields including AI, computer science, robotics, drones, TV station construction, and new campus development. This will further explore and practice international development, deepen the opening of education to the outside world, cultivate a new generation of technical and skilled talents with international vision and innovative capabilities, and provide strong support for economic and social development.
The School visited this time is a member unit of the International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS. From June 22 to 30, 2024, it organized a delegation to participate in the 2024 Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation—BRICS (Brazil) Technology Innovation Competition. The School’s participating project "Artificial Intelligence Evaluation System for Solder Joints in Electronic Craftworks" showcased China's latest achievements in intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence, earning unanimous praise from expert judges and winning the first prize (gold medal). Technical cooperation and exchanges were also conducted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, yielding fruitful outcomes.
