The inaugural meeting of the drafting working group for the BRICS group standard "Commercial Digital Capability" competition standard was held.

On September 11, 2024, the inaugural meeting of the drafting working group for the BRICS group standards on "Commercial Digital Capabilities" competition, skills, and curriculum was successfully convened. The meeting was attended by 57 participants, including members of the drafting working group, secretariat members of the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology (referred to as the BRICS Standards Committee), committee members, industry representatives, experts, and teacher representatives from vocational institutions across the country. Approximately 20 international experts from countries such as South Africa and Brazil were also present.

Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chair of China Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group and Chair of the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He affirmed the importance of developing the three group standards for the "Business Digital Capability" competition, skills, and curriculum, and expressed hope that relevant organizations would actively participate in the formulation of BRICS group standards to deepen international cooperation and support high-level educational opening-up. At the meeting, Wu Jianfeng, Director of the Standards Department of the BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen), presented the progress and achievements of the BRICS Skills and Technology Standardization Working Committee. Attendees included Nomsa Gumbi, representative of the South African Department of Higher Education and Training, and Bonolo Sedupane, representative of South Africa Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group.

This conference invited Associate Professor Jacob Jacobus Greeff, Deputy Dean of the School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Northwest University in South Africa and member of the BRICS Standardization Working Committee; Professor Darelle van Greunen, Director of the Technology Center at Nelson Mandela University and Distinguished Professor of Information Technology; Valério Junior Piana, expert from the National Industrial Training Service (SENAI) in Brazil; Professor Li Hui from the School of Finance and Economics at Wuhan City Vocational College; and Professor Feng Lei from the School of Digital Business at Beijing Information Technology College, along with other experts and scholars, to present and discuss the application status and development prospects of "commercial digitalization capabilities" technology both domestically and internationally.

Associate Professor Jacob Jacobus Greeff shared the value of business digitalization capabilities for enterprises, provided a summary of the involved professional skills and technologies, and expressed anticipation for the future standardization outcomes in skills development and innovation.

Professor Darelle van Greunen delivered a keynote speech titled "Human-oriented Innovation in Business Development," discussing the current challenges and opportunities in business digital capabilities and proposing that the advancement of business digitalization should be human-oriented, empowering individuals.

Professor Li Hui delivered a keynote speech titled "The New Era of Commercial Digitization," introducing the technological trends, application fields, and future skill requirements of commercial digitization.

Professor Feng Lei shared the technological trends of business digitalization, noting that digital technologies play a significant role in various commercial domains, including sales, marketing, supply chain management, and customer relationship management. Digital technologies can assist enterprises in enhancing sales efficiency, precisely targeting potential customers, optimizing supply chain operations, and improving customer satisfaction.

Jia Guihua, Director of Teaching and Research at China United Enterprise Management Group, introduced the content, tasks, organization, and plan of the "Commercial Digital Capability" standard development work. She provided a brief explanation of each stage of the standard formulation process (drafting stage, solicitation of opinions stage, review stage, approval stage, etc.) along with an overview of the tasks involved in each phase. Additionally, she presented a backward-scheduled timeline for the standard development work and expressed commitment to actively advancing the progress and completion of the standard initiative.

The official establishment of the drafting working groups for the three standards of the BRICS group standard "Commercial Digital Capability" competition, skills, and courses will further advance the new development of BRICS group standard formulation work.
