Recently, the Xiamen Municipal Administration for Market Regulation issued the "Notice of Xiamen Municipal Administration for Market Regulation on Issuing the 2024 Third Batch of Xiamen Local Standard Development Project Plans" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan Notice"). The "Specifications for the Organization and Services of BRICS Skills Competition," led by our Academy, has been officially approved for establishment.
The BRICS Skills Competition is an international event initiated in 2022 to implement President Xi Jinping's proposal at the 13th BRICS Summit to "hold vocational skills competitions and build a platform for exchanges and cooperation among vocational institutions and enterprises of the five countries." It also aims to fulfill the spirit of skills development outlined in the BRICS Xiamen Declaration, Johannesburg Declaration, Brasilia Declaration, Moscow Declaration, New Delhi Declaration, and Beijing Declaration. The 2022 BRICS Skills Competition was held in Xiamen, China, marking the first vocational skills competition hosted by China as the chair country under the BRICS cooperation mechanism. It was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the BRICS Business Council, and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government.
The "Specifications for the Organization and Services of BRICS Skills Competition" standard is the first local standard in our province related to BRICS skills competitions that has been successfully established. The research on this standard will provide support for hosting international vocational skills competitions in Fujian Province and Xiamen City, contribute to the construction of the BRICS Innovation Base, facilitate the "soft connectivity" of rules, regulations, and standards among BRICS countries, and promote the "going global" of Chinese products, services, and projects.
In accordance with the requirements of the "Plan Notice," our institute will organize and carry out the drafting of standards, extensively solicit opinions, and ensure the quality and level of the standards, thereby contributing to the construction of an urban standard system with Xiamen characteristics.
