In the BRICS Auditorium, Dr. Liu Zhenying, President of the Academy, introduced the work priorities and achievements of the Academy to the interviewers. He said that as an important international platform for the introduction of the BRICS innovation base, the Academy is based in Xiamen, focusing on promoting international cooperation in the integration of industry and education projects and environmental construction, mainly serving the Belt and Road and BRICS countries from five aspects:
First, technical skills research, development and standards formulation. Conduct research on emerging and transformational skills for the next decade, focusing on seven modules: manufacturing engineering technology; engineering and construction technology, infrastructure; transportation and logistics; social and personal services; information and communication technology, digital technology; creative arts, design and fashion; agriculture and ecology.
The standards formulation work is carried out at both international and domestic levels. International level: Under the framework of the Working Group on Skills Development of the BRICS Business Council, the BRICS Skills Standardization Working Committee has been established to promote curriculum development and group standard formulation, implement the "Skills Passport" program, and form the BRICS skills certification system. Up to now, the first draft of the group standards for 28 competitions of the 2022 BRICS National Vocational Skills Competition has been completed.
Domestic level: Organize relevant work as the secretariat unit of Xiamen BRICS Technical and Skill Standardization Technical Committee (No. SAXM/TC2). Combine with the development needs of innovation base and local enterprises, enhance the regional standard service capacity, help the construction of emerging technical and skill standard system in BRICS countries, and fully promote the practical cooperation in the field of technical and skill standards in BRICS and other emerging markets and developing countries.
Second, international technical skills training and talent platform construction. In lieu of training, we held the BRICS National Vocational Skills Competition, the Belt and Road and BRICS National Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition, organized the Future Skills Remote Training Camp, and improved the mechanism of combining remote competition and training. As the executive organizer, BRICS Institute of the Future successfully held the 2022 BRICS National Vocational Skills Competition Launch Competition (3 events) from May 23-28, 2022, with nearly 200 teams and more than 600 experts and players from BRICS countries participating; and hosted the 2022 BRICS National Vocational Skills Competition Final, Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition Xiamen International Competition, a total of 34 events. The competition received 3585 international teams from Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Myanmar, Zimbabwe and other countries, as well as 6282 domestic teams from 31 provinces in China, with a scale of nearly 20,000 competitors.
The establishment of the BRICS Future Skills Training Base for the common use of the five BRICS countries, based on the training base, through the combination of online and offline training camps, joint training, to help international group standards and curriculum development; The training base is used as a distributed competition venue to organize remote competitions. In 2020, the China-Foreign People-to-people Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education and the International Alliance for Skills Development of BRICS Countries jointly implemented the "BRICS International Training Base for Future Technical Skills and People-to-people Exchange Talents Project". By the end of 2022, a total of 84 base projects have been established in China, and the construction of bases in other BRICS countries will continue this year.
Thirdly, international cooperative research and technology exchange. Establishing a long-term mechanism of remote lectures on skills development and technological innovation in the Belt and Road and BRICS countries to conduct theoretical and technical seminars and skills training on the themes of smart manufacturing technology skills, artificial intelligence, digital technology skills, and future technology skills with Industry 4.0 as the core. Six sessions have been successfully held so far in 2022, with a total of 500,000 online viewings in BRICS and Belt and Road countries. 2023. South Africa, Russia and the Chinese Skills Group plan to hold monthly BRICS seminars, aiming to conduct technical exchanges, promote technical progress and share skills knowledge and best practices.
Fourthly, research results transformation, incubation and exhibition display. The Innovation Incubation Center is set up to provide software and hardware environment support and services for BRICS entrepreneurs, winners of BRICS competitions and young creators. As a training center for skills development and technological innovation in the "One Belt, One Road" and BRICS countries of the China Association of Science and Technology, the affiliated unit of the Industrial Internet Technology Innovation Branch of the China Invention Association, and the Digital Medicine Research Center of the One Belt, One Road and BRICS countries, the Center promotes the transformation and incubation of achievements, realizes the combination of production, competition, study and research, and helps excellent projects to settle in Xiamen. It will serve the local economic construction in Xiamen and the development of the Belt and Road and BRICS countries.
Set up a future technology exhibition and experience center to share the results of the application of new technology skills products in BRICS countries through holding exhibitions and showcases and live broadcas platforms at home and abroad, and to promote domestic advanced technology products to the Belt and Road and BRICS countries.
Fifth, technical skills consulting services. The BRICS Resource Service Center was established to build a talent service platform based on the BRICS Competition and the BRICS Future Skills Training Base to help enterprises and institutions in BRICS countries and other emerging markets and developing countries to "go out" and "come in". As a vice-chairman unit of the International Alliance for Skills Development in BRICS Countries, a member of the Working Group on Skills Development, the Working Group on Digital Economy, the Working Group on Infrastructure and the Working Group on Deregulation of the BRICS Business Council (Chinese side), and a demonstration unit of the Innovation Base of the BRICS Partnership for the New Industrial Revolution, we fully integrate platform resources, actively play the role of bridge and link, and promote enterprises and institutions in BRICS countries to Internationalization level is enhanced.

In our future technology exhibition and experience center, media reporters observed and experienced the products on display covering the fields of Industry 4.0, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, digital skills and so on. Among them, the products from MPC, Lilin Technology, Yudian Automation and other domestic industry leaders have been exported to the Belt and Road and BRICS countries, and the products from Phoenix Creative One, Xidian Technology and Jiean Hi-Tech have been applied in the BRICS National Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition and Vocational Skills Competition.
The establishment of the future technology exhibition and experience center aims to build up an international platform and window for future technology product display and experience by holding BRICS lectures (international forums/seminars), targeted exhibitions and live broadcass at home and abroad, to share the results of future technology and skill product application to the Belt and Road and BRICS countries, and to promote domestic advanced technology products. After visiting the site, the delegation had a deeper understanding of the development of future technology and skills, a new understanding of the contribution of "Made in China" to the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Belt and Road and BRICS countries, and a high evaluation of the effectiveness of the Institute in promoting international cooperation and exchange in related fields.
During the interview, President Liu Zhenying particularly emphasized the Institute's efforts in the development of technical skills group standards and talent platforms in BRICS countries. He said that this year, South Africa, as the BRICS rotating presidency, authorized the Chinese side to continue to promote and take the lead in future skills group standard setting and curriculum development, call on experts from BRICS countries to join the BRICS Skills Standardization Working Committee, and promote the mutual recognition of standards among BRICS countries. At the same time, China will continue to organize the BRICS competition, and this year will set up the main competition in South Africa, Russia and China sub-regions. We will build future skill training bases in Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, build a talent service platform based on the BRICS competition and BRICS future skill training bases, and help enterprises and institutions in BRICS countries and other emerging markets and developing countries "go out" and "come in ".
