Fang Jun, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, Liu Xinchang, Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational Capacity Building of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and Liao Huasheng, Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Xiamen, attended and delivered speeches at the Opening Ceremony, which was presided over by Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chairman of the BRICS Business Council Skills Development Working Group. The Kick-off Stage set up three competitions of Web technology, machine learning and big data, and rail vehicle technology, with nearly 200 teams from BRICS countries participating. Before the competition, in order to ensure the coordination and unification of the BRICS national standards and the smooth development of the online competition, experts, judges and participating colleges of the five countries jointly studied and negotiated the regulations and standards of the competitions, developed the contents of the competition questions and the operational rules of the online competition, and developed relevant training courses, based on which an online training camp was formed to guide the participating teams to familiarize themselves with the process of the online competition. During the competition, a committee of experts from five countries will be responsible for judging the competition.

This competition innovatively adopts the form of combining online and offline, utilizes modern information technology to effectively transform the competition scenario, breaks the time and space barriers of the international long-distance race, provides a new mode of foreign humanistic exchanges and cooperation during the epidemic, and establishes a new platform for exchanges and cooperation among vocational colleges and enterprises of the five countries. Meanwhile, the unified judging standard of the competition will lay a solid foundation for the formation of a unified skill certification system for BRICS countries in the future.
