2022 BRICS Skills Competition Kick-Off Stage Ends Successfully

The closing ceremony of the 2022 BRICS Skills Competition Kick-Off Stage was successfully held at 19:00 on the evening of May 28, marking the successful conclusion of the Kick-Off  stage of the Competition.

The Chairman of the BRICS Business Council Skills Development Working Group, leaders of the BRICS Innovation Base, leaders of the Xiamen Municipal Education Bureau, representatives of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision and the Xiamen Municipal Institute of Standardization attended the Closing Ceremony, which was held at the Xiamen BRICS Institute of Future Skills Development and Technological Innovation. Heads of the BRICS Business Council Skills Development Working Group, participating experts and competitors, representatives of educational institutions and representatives of technical support platform units of the competition participated in the closing ceremony remotely in an online format. The closing ceremony was synchronously broadcas live through Chinese Headlines and Cloud Live, attracting nearly 2 million views.

The Kick-off Stage was held in three events: Web Technology, Machine Learning and Big Data, and Rail Vehicle Technology. Nearly 200 teams from the BRICS countries competed fiercely for six days, and nine teams came out on top. Among them, Luo Xing from Luzhou Institute of Vocational Technology of China and Ivan Vladyka from Russia won the gold medal in Web Technology; Yu Zhiying from Chongqing Vocational College of Industry and Commerce of China and his instructor Guo Zixin, Konstantin Adamovich from Russia and his instructor Vitalii Kondratev, The gold medals in Machine Learning and Big Data were awarded to Brazilian team member Felipe Nonato Roberto da Silva and his mentor Rafael Pereira Pessoni, and Indian team member Vinayakk Garg; and the gold medals in Rail Vehicle Technology were awarded to the Brazilian team member and his team members Macros Meanwhile, taking into account the special nature of the practical skills of the Rail Vehicle Technology Competition, the domestic teams will compete in two phases, namely, the online competition of the kick-off competition and the offline competition of the official final, and the teams will determine the final results according to the combination of 40% of the online results and 60% of the offline results. The teams will determine the final ranking by adding up 40% of the online results and 60% of the offline results. The first place of online competition of domestic teams in Rail Vehicle Technology was won by Zhang Yuqiang and He Chenyang of Anhui Transportation Vocational and Technical College.

Web technology race chief expert Zhao Junqing said, after this fierce competition, the final BRICS team's average score of only 2 points, the highest score of players are similar. The competitive level of the best performers from China and Russia basically reflects the international top level of the two countries in this field.

Liu Yanfei, an expert in machine learning and big data, said that although the competition was transferred from offline to online, the "fairness, high quality, high efficiency and integrity" of the event was still fully reflected, opening up a new path for the online mode of the subsequent events.

Liu Zhiming, the chief expert of the rail vehicle technology race, said that the competition is the first global online large-scale international skills competition in the field of rail transportation, in which the Brazilian team is professional and serious, outstanding ability, large-scale participation of the Russian team, the Chinese team trained hard, excellent performance.

It is understood that the launch of the competition held before the three major international training camp also used online training mode, training time a total of 6 days, from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, nearly 200 teams of more than 600 participating experts, players, observers to participate in remote training for the BRICS countries skills training provides a high-quality international platform and model.
