BRICS+ Facilitates New Industrial Cooperation丨Alliance's International Industry-Education Collaboration Achievements Featured at the 2024 World Technical and Vocational Education Development Exhibition

From November 20 to 22, 2024, the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference was grandly held in Tianjin. The International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS (with BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) serving as its secretariat unit) made a remarkable appearance at the conference. With the theme of "BRICS+ Facilitating New Industrial Cooperation," the alliance set up an exhibition, which was the only showcase of BRICS international industry-education integration achievements in this vocational education-themed exhibition. It attracted attention from delegations of multiple countries, including the United States, Russia, South Africa, Iran, Switzerland, Benin, Malaysia, Thailand, and New Zealand, as well as domestic vocational education-related institutions. The alliance's exhibition area demonstrated distinct international characteristics, with the delegation from South Africa's Department of Higher Education and Training visiting the booth and engaging in discussions.

The exhibition alliance showcases its achievements since its establishment in 2017, including the International Training Base for Future Technical Skills - BRICS Workshop, international group standards for technology and skills, BRICS Auditorium of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation and BRICS Skills Competition, BRICS+ national technology innovation and international exchanges, international cooperative education and industry-education integration. A results-sharing session was held concurrently, with representatives from 18 alliance member institutions and enterprises from Russia, South Africa, Brazil, and domestic participants engaging in the event and delivering outstanding presentations.

International Seminar on the Construction of Future Technical Skills International Training Base (BRICS Workshop Construction) and Best Practice Sharing Conference on International Cooperative Education and Industry-Education Integration Achievements

On the afternoon of November 21st, the International Seminar on the Construction of the Future Technology Skills International Training Base - BRICS Workshop and the Best Practice Sharing Session on International Cooperative Education and Industry-Education Integration Achievements were held. Approximately 15 institutions and enterprises, along with 50 guests, attended the event offline. Alina Singh Doskanova, Chair of Russia Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, and Frederico Lamego Soares, Chair of Brazil Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group, delivered speeches online.

At the seminar, Dr. Liu Zhenying presented the BRICS Workshop plaques to the Northwest University of South Africa, Sedara Agricultural College of South Africa, Durban Municipal College of South Africa, Durban University of Technology of South Africa, University of Johannesburg of South Africa, and Ekurhuleni Artisans and Skills Training Institute of South Africa.

International Symposium on the Formulation of Technical and Skills Group Standards & Achievement Release Conference, and Experience Sharing Session on Promoting the Transformation of International Industry-Education Integration Outcomes through the BRICS International Skills Competition

On the morning of November 22nd, the International Technology and Skills Group Standard Formulation Seminar and Achievement Release Conference was held, with approximately 15 enterprises and over 30 guests attending offline. Two international guests from Brazil and India participated online. Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chair of the BRICS Standardization Working Committee for Skills and Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote report titled "Work Report and International Achievements of the BRICS Future Research Institute." The report covered multiple aspects including the BRICS mechanism, achievement design, an introduction to the research institute, work accomplishments, and the BRICS+ Alliance of Science and Technology Innovation.

Professor Wei Zhou, President of the International Society for Intelligent Manufacturing, delivered a keynote report titled "A Fair Voting System for Establishing International Standards."

Mario Willian Esper, President of the Brazil Association of Technical Standards, and Professor Swaran Singh from the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in India delivered online speeches and keynote presentations, providing an overview of the development of standards in various countries.

The standard project leader organization, Beijing Qixueyan Education Technology Research Institute, and representatives from Caizhi Future (Beijing) Education Technology Co., Ltd. introduced the progress and completion status of the BRICS group standard project.

At the seminar, Dr. Liu Zhenying presented certificates related to standardization work to the leading unit of the standard project and the chief editor unit of the standard drafting working group.

Through this seminar, we introduced the BRICS Skills and Technology Standardization Working Committee and the BRICS Group Standard Project to a wide range of exhibitors, partners, participating universities, research institutes, and other organizations, enabling more enterprises and standardization professionals to become familiar with standardization work.

 

The BRICS International Competition facilitated the concurrent hosting of the Experience Sharing Conference on International Industry-Education Integration and Achievement Transformation in Vocational Education. Representatives from the competition's technical support unit, Shenzhen Yuejiang Technology Co., Ltd., presented the report "Yuejiang Technology's Cases and Pathways for International Industry-Education Integration," while representatives from Caizhi Future (Beijing) Education Technology Co., Ltd. shared the report "Competition-Driven Talent Development and Skills Innovation." Both reports emphasized the importance of skills innovation from multiple perspectives and dimensions.

BRICS+ Countries Science and Technology Innovation and International Exchange Featured Achievements Cooperation Sharing Conference

This sharing session invited four experts and scholars from domestic and international industry fields, including Mr. Valério Junior Piana, International Department Manager of Brazil's SENAI Institute of Innovation and Technology; Pan Dan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office at Guangzhou City Construction College; Marcelo, President of the Brazilian Association of Inventors, Scientists and Entrepreneurs; and Xiong Jiayi, Vice President of Guangdong Communication Polytechnic. They delivered keynote reports from multiple perspectives such as technology innovation and distinctive achievements in international exchanges.

 

The sharing session commenced with an introduction to the BRICS+ Alliance of Science and Technology Innovation. Mr. Valério Junior Piana, International Department Manager of Brazil's SENAI Institute of Innovation and Technology, presented "Achievements of Brazil and the BRICS Future Research Institute," providing a detailed overview of SENAI's accomplishments in promoting technological innovation, skills training, and international cooperation.

Pan Dan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office at Guangzhou City Construction College, delivered a keynote report titled "Integration of Industry and Education: Guangzhou City Construction College's Expertise in Building Simulation Training Platform Development." The report provided a detailed introduction to the innovative practices of Guangzhou City Construction College in the field of architecture, with a particular focus on the construction and application of its specialized building simulation training platform.

Marcelo, President of the Brazil International Inventors, Scientists and Entrepreneurs Association, shared the progress of the China-Brazil Cooperation Center's initiatives, specifically the projects already launched by the BRICS+ Alliance of Science and Technology Innovation in São Paulo.

Xiong Jiayi, Vice President of Guangdong Communication Polytechnic, delivered a keynote report titled "Forging New Pathways for Global Engagement to Serve the High-Quality Development of Vocational Education." She shared the institution's successful experiences in promoting international cooperation and cultivating cross-border vocational talents, while calling for more educational institutions to collaborate with enterprises to advance the high-quality development of vocational education.

At the sharing session, Dr. Liu Zhenying presented alliance member unit certificates to representatives from Xi'an Aviation Base Tianyi Aviation Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Haomo Vocational Training School Co., Ltd., Shandong Liming Vocational College of Science and Technology, and Tianjin Electronic Information Vocational Technical College.

This event marks the first major diplomatic activity in the education sector following the National Education Conference. The alliance's achievements in international industry-education collaboration within the BRICS+ and Belt and Road countries received high recognition from the participating national delegations, who expressed their intent to further explore cooperative opportunities to jointly advance the development and integration of vocational education, thereby contributing to global skills enhancement and socio-economic progress. The conference and thematic exhibition fully demonstrated the pivotal role of vocational education in fostering international exchanges and promoting regional economic integration. Representatives from attending countries unanimously agreed that international cooperation in vocational education not only cultivates high-quality skilled professionals but also builds collaborative bridges among nations, facilitating the sharing of development experiences and achieving mutual benefits. Moving forward, the alliance will deepen its cooperation with Belt & Road and BRICS+ countries, actively explore innovative models, and promote the international alignment of vocational education standards, offering more wisdom and solutions for the global development of vocational education.
