On November 4, the Opening Ceremony of the Xiamen International Competition of 2022 BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition was successfully held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center. Huang Xiaozhou, member of the Standing Committee of Xiamen Municipal Committee, Deputy Mayor and Director of Xiamen BRICS Office, Du Kewei, Director of the Center for Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchange of the Ministry of Education, Chairman of the Working Group on Skills Development of the BRICS Business Council, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organizing Committee of the BRICS Vocational Skills Competition, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belt, Road and BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development, Director of the Center for Belt, Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Training of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, and Liu Zhenying, Director of the BRICS Future Skills Development and Technology Innovation Institute, attended the opening ceremony. Du Kewei, Director of the Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education, delivered an opening speech online. Huang Feng, Executive Deputy Director of Xiamen BRICS Office, and Zhang Qi, Director of Personnel Department of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, attended the event. Yu Huarong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of China Invention Association, Zhang Libo, Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation, and Liu Weimin, President of China Transportation Education and Research Association, were invited to attend on line.
This opening ceremony was hosted by Cui Xueyan, Executive Director of the Chinese Skills Development Working Group of the BRICS Business Council. Heads of participating delegations from BRICS countries, as well as 201 participating teams, 483 participating experts and competitors from Russia, South Africa and China participated in this Opening Ceremony in a combined online and offline format.
Du Kewei, director of the Center for Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchange of the Ministry of Education, said in his opening speech that with the development of the economy and society, the importance of vocational education has become more and more prominent, and the Vocational Education Law promulgated in April this year formally clarified the status of vocational education, vocational education and the social value of skilled personnel will be more recognized by the family and the society, the future of vocational education can be expected, and the future space for skilled personnel is incredibly wide. He suggested that participants should make full use of the platform of various vocational skills competitions, including the BRICS Competition, and focus on broadening their international vision and enhancing their awareness and ability of humanistic exchange while improving their professional and technical skills.
The 2022 BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition Xiamen International kicked off under the solemn oath of the participating experts and representatives of the competitors.
The International Competition is organized by the BRICS Business Council, Xiamen Municipal People's Government, the Belt and Road and BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development, the Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Training Center of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST), undertaken by the Skills Development Working Group of the BRICS Business Council, and implemented by the Xiamen BRICS Future Skills Development and Technology Innovation Institute. The Xiamen International Competition has 8 events, including: Internet of Things (IoT) technology and its application in smart cities, application of artificial intelligence engineering technology, financial robotics (RPA) skills, 5G+MR resource development, smart agriculture environment monitoring, data analysis and visualization, youth creators, and cardiac rehabilitation.
This year's Xiamen International Competition is the 6th BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition Series. BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition (hereinafter referred to as BRICS Competition) is an international competition recognized by the Preparatory Committee for the Meeting of the Supreme Leaders of the BRICS Countries, agreed by the relevant competent departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and approved by the Industrial and Commercial Council of the BRICS Countries in 2017. Since its launch in 2017, it has been successfully held for six times, with a total of more than 130,000 participants in the competition and related conferences, exhibitions, displays, technical exchanges and other activities. Since 2017, the BRICS Competition has been presented to the top leaders of the BRICS countries as an outcome design in the work report of the BRICS Business Council for six consecutive years. The BRICS Competition kicked off the prelude to the cooperation of BRICS countries in skills competition and technological innovation, and became an important platform for promoting educational cooperation, skills development and humanistic exchanges among BRICS countries, which is highly recognized by the BRICS countries and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs (MOHRS), and the relevant units under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
The Competition aims to implement the important instruction of General Secretary Xi Jinping to "inspire more workers, especially the young generation, to take the path of becoming skilled and serving the country with their skills", to continue to implement the spirit of the Xiamen, Johannesburg, Brasilia, Moscow and New Delhi Declarations of the BRICS countries on the development of skills, and to pragmatically push forward the high-quality development of the skills talents in the BRICS countries by taking the BRICS Partnership for a New Industrial Revolution as its main theme, using the exchange of humanities between China and foreign countries as a link, taking the cutting-edge technologies and skills as the theme, and oriented towards the idea of "Future Skills Creating the Future".
During the tournament, the final round of the 2022 BRICS Vocational Skills Competition will be held at the same time, and the BRICS Skilled Talent Matchmaking Meeting will be held, aiming at building a docking platform for enterprises and outstanding players of international competitions, enhancing the exchanges between the participating colleges and universities and the local enterprises in Xiamen, and assisting the enterprises in recruiting and attracting talents to provide high-quality career development channels and platforms for the skilled talents.
