The 2024 Annual Agricultural Research Progress Report Summit was successfully held on September 27 in KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. This summit was hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (KZN DARD), aiming to share agricultural experimental research achievements from six research institutes and higher education institutions in South Africa.

During the summit, the donation and handover ceremony of the Smart Agriculture Data Monitoring Platform was also held. South African representatives, including Ms. Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of KwaZulu-Natal Province, and Mr. Ngezwa, Mayor of uMlalazi Municipality, jointly witnessed this significant moment.

The Smart Agriculture Data Monitoring Platform was donated by Tongyun Education Technology Co., Ltd. from Jiangsu, China. China Chapter of BRICS Business Council Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation Working Group (referred to as the China Working Group) serves as the regulatory authority for the platform. During the donation ceremony, Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chair of the China Working Group, stated in his speech that smart agriculture holds a significant position in global agricultural development, and BRICS countries have broad prospects for cooperation in this field. The Smart Agriculture Data Monitoring Platform will become a key project vehicle for the International Training Bases for BRICS Future Technical Skills (BRICS Workshop).

The successful holding of this handover ceremony marks a phased achievement in the international cooperation between the China-South Africa working group in the field of smart agriculture. At the same time, it lays a solid foundation for collaboration between Chinese and South African institutions and enterprises in areas such as agricultural IoT, jointly establishing the he International Training Bases for BRICS Future Technical Skills (BRICS Workshop). This significant cooperation not only helps advance the strategy of serving international production capacity cooperation and Chinese enterprises "going global," but is also expected to contribute more wisdom and strength to global agricultural sustainable development.
