On November 6th, the 16th Asian Welding Technology and Application Forum, jointly organized by the Malaysian Welding and Joining Society (MWJS) and the UniKL Malaysian French Institute (UniKL MFI), was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the conference, 12 distinguished guests from home and abroad delivered insightful keynote speeches, with over 70 experts, scholars, and faculty members from countries and regions including China, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, Japan and Singapore in attendance. Welcome addresses were given by Dr. Badli Shah Bin Mohd Yusoff, Dean of UniKL Malaysian French Institute, and Mr. Saharudin Bin Kambari, Chairman of the Malaysian Welding and Joining Society.

The forum featured brilliant presentations under the theme "Achieving Green Living Through Advanced Welding and Joining Technologies." Guest speakers shared insights from various national contexts, covering industrial development, technological research, industry-education integration, training certification, standard formulation, artificial intelligence, and other aspects, followed by interactive Q&A sessions on-site.

Dr. Liu Zhenying, President of our Academy, Chairman of the Technical and Application Committee of the Asian Welding Federation, and Vice President of the China Welding Association, delivered a keynote report titled "Developing Vocational Education Through the Integration of Industry and Education." He stated that under the cooperation mechanism of the BRICS and its partner countries, the International Alliance of Skills Development for Belt & Road and BRICS promote multi-dimensional international cooperation projects in future technical skills, including welding, through the formulation of international group standards, international Training Bases for Future Technical Skills, the Belt & Road and BRICS Auditorium of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, as well as international joint education programs and mutual credit recognition, thereby advancing the international integration of industry and education.

The keynote presentations at this forum also included: "From Classroom to Market: The Power of Industry Linkages in Higher Education" by Mohd Zaki bin Mohamed, Deputy Dean of International Industry and Partnerships at the Malaysian French Institute, Universiti Kuala Lumpur; "Indonesia's Major Challenges in Becoming a Globally Leading Nation" by Mochamad Zaed Yuliadi from the Indonesian Welding Society (IWS); "JWES Welding Coordinator Certification System" by Shoichi Nomura, Technical Advisor of the Japan Welding Engineering Society (JEWS); "Challenges in Welding Repairs for High-Temperature Hydrogen Equipment" by Ir. Sia Hua Jiuh, Head of Technical Services at Petronas; "Enhancing Skills Recognition in Malaysia's Welding Industry Through the Malaysian Skills Certification System" by Mohd Sukri Ismail from the Certification Competency Division, Department of Skills Development, Malaysia; "Battery-Powered Welding Machines for Environmental Sustainability" by Jeetendra Kadam, Power System Design Lead at Ador Welding Ltd, India; "Defect Treatment Methods for Cold Repair of Superheater Headers" by Ts. Dr. Dahia Andud from the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department, Malaysian French Institute, Kuala Lumpur; "MWJS Advancing Together with Domestic and International Welding and Joining" by Awaldin Mohd Arif from the Malaysian Welding and Joining Society (MWJS); "Welding Quality Inspection Technologies" by Adi Putra Zainal Abidin, Quality Technology Specialist at Petronas; "Development of TIG-MIG Hybrid Welding Process" by Dr. Sarizam Mamat from the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan; "Introduction to the Vietnam Welding Society" by Dr. Han Le Duy from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam; and "Hazardous Fume Filtration Technology Sharing" by Raghunathan Kuppusamy Konar, Head of Shanghai Kaisen Malaysia Branch.
